69th Annual SCTR Conference
Hosted by the Public School & Education Employee Retirement Systems of Missouri
Held in St. Louis, Missouri
Westin St. Louis (Downtown)
April 21-24, 2013
On behalf of PSRS/PEERS, I am extremely excited to announce that the 69th Annual Southern Conference on Teacher Retirement (SCTR) will be held April 21-24, 2013, at the Westin Hotel in downtown St. Louis. We are planning both an educational and interesting program with networking activities through the evening of April 24 that you will not want to miss.
As you all know, our jobs as public pension plan administrators and trustees have become much more difficult over the last several years. With the volatile investment markets and the daily attack on defined benefit plans by the news media, our job to preserve and protect the retirement security of our members has become more challenging than ever in the history of many of our systems. Many plans have made changes in their benefit structure and/or their investment strategy. Missouri is certainly no exception to this trend. Like you, we are committed to properly funding our plan and paying the benefits promised to our state's teachers and public employees.
I sincerely hope you will plan to attend the Southern Conference on Teacher Retirement in April, 2013. It is sure to provide you with information and ideas that will help you with the challenges we all face in today's environment.
I hope to see you in St. Louis!
M. Steve Yoakum, Executive Director, PSRS/PEERS
